Just a reminder to think about it before you automatically put in highlights to camouflage a too warm result.

Using Highlights to Camouflage a too Warm Result??? …IF you have lifted your clients hair during a color service and it is too warm..way to warm…DO NOT … I repeat…DO NOT automatically put highlights in it …to cut down the warmth…although this works some of the time …it is NOT the answer to every situation! If you lift the highlights to a lighter color ..okay but that only solves the problem on part of the hair….if the original is way to warm…putting highlights just makes it harder to fix the problem. Most times the highlights are to light to apply back over with a cooler (usually ashier) color formula…It is much easier to apply another color to TONE or Neutralize the unwanted warmth…Tone down the warm first…then think about a few highlights to offset…… …here is an example Challenge: Clients hair came out to warm…client is not happy Client is NL 5 and wants a level 8…formula used was 8N & 40 vol. Results were to warm…highlights were done…to a level 10 blonde…Is the base color shining through is still too warm?… but now the blond has to be considered…to go back over with an 8C…8C will probably be to ashy for the blonde…could make the level 10 blond highlights waayyyyyy to cool………………..remember the level to tone with should technically be the same level as the formula…cause the warmth is at a level 8 (strong gold—y/o)
