Hello and Welcome to "The Colorly Coach",
My name is Karen Pisano. I am your Color Coach and the IT&LY Hair Fashion Distributor Educational Program Manager . This forum is designed to enhance your knowledge…your skills and share with you the wisdom I have experienced .
I’d like to tell you a little about my background so you don’t think I’m some schmuck!...giving advice. I have worked in the beauty industry for almost...yikes 30 years, and in this time I have found that there is A LOT of misconceptions out there. Here at IT&LY Hairfashion, we strive to tell you the TRUTH plain & simple… what really happens during a color/chemical service, how it works, and why it works...so you the stylist can make intelligent informed decisions. This is not always true in this business.
I have worked in many areas of the beauty biz…stylist, salon owner, esthetician, makeup artist, part-time distributor educator. I have also worked for more than one manufacturer in different capacities…research & development helping to develop products, working in the test salon, testing one company’s product vs. another company’s product on the same head! You can see exactly what the differences are. It makes a huge…huge difference! Try it sometime on your sister, your BFF. Just pick a color the same from 2 different lines like…5N…split the head in half in the back and apply. They will usually not see that much difference...but you probably will…it’s fun really! I have also answered the technical hot-line for years assisting some of you with your hair color challenges and sometimes answer the hotline here as well…soooo I have heard and seen a lot.
I have also written many "how to" manuals over the years on every chemical service and trained many stylists on haircutting techniques.
I went back behind the chair in my early 40’s and started “doing hair” again, which was very interesting…but guess what? After all this time, I still love this business and still love “doing hair”! And so does everyone else at IT&LY Hairfashion. It is a common thread among us. Every stylist you come across here has a passion for “doing hair”. It is more than a numbers game…it is about the art, the passion, and the smile on the client's face…that says I feel beautiful!It will be my pleasure to share the information I have gathered and the wisdom I have gained. So please email me with questions or comments…anything you want to know about hair color, demi-permanent haircolor, straightening, relaxing, permanent waving, updo styling. We will also discuss in this forum communication skills, problem solving skills and anything else pertaining to this business…and if I do not know the answer...I have a great team of stylists who will!
